This festival was held in the Alexandroff Center building in the Ferguson Hall.
Here is a list of the readers. :) :
Each person read 2-5 poems each and they were all interesting in their own unique ways. Ones that stood out were:
Andrate Phillips who wrote sonnets that were inspired by her children and motherhood.
Nick Norbutas whose poetry was gritty, bold, and reminded me of one of my favorite poets in the way his poetry read. (cannot think of the genre at the moment).
Amy Elizabeth Olson who had the same gritty, sometimes raunchy, somewhat "spoken wordy" but not, poetry.
Some did light, love themed poetry that rhymed, some did sonnets, some did free formed poetry.
The ones who had the rhyming poetry read it in a sing-songy, almost monotone reading and my attention span was honestly short while listening to them. The ones that stood out to me the most were the ones that seemed to perform theirs in a very spoken word manner. I'm starting to think this is becoming one of my favorite styles of poetry.
(I sat way in the back and only had my phone to use as a camera. :( )
I wanted to go to a poetry event on campus to see what our school had to offer, so I randomly chose this one to go to. I also liked that they made an event to where schools sort of united to share poetry.
The event was shorter than I thought it would be to be named a "festival" I guess. Wish there were a few more readers and I had more time to go to the reception afterward. Otherwise I enjoyed it.
